Just Fiddling Around

Recently was out trimming trees, and plants getting them ready for spring. Not sure at this time how many have been lost from the last cold spell we had. Good thing is that some have already started spouting again. :O) While out trimming, I happened to keep some of the limbs for future projects once I decide what they will be. LOL. I did manage to fiddle around with one since I haven’t quite decided what my next item to make will be. Right now I’m having a hard time deciding what I want to start making, so I’ve just been fiddling around with things for now.

Now back to my limb I’ve been fiddling around with. I took and sanded it down till it was nice and smooth. I then took some maple color wood stain, and wiped it down till I got the perfect color. Once the stain dried completely, I took some gold and black paint which I painted the tip gold with black stripes.

Once the paint was all dried, I then sealed it with polyurethane and let it dry. Then I took some leather, wrapped it around the end to give it a leather grip handle.

Leather Grip Handle

By now it was looking pretty good, well at least to me it was. LOL. My husband happened to call it the “Leather Grip Poter Wand”. Well, haven’t quite decided what to call it. I had thought about calling it something like the “Indian Leather Grip Hand Stick” but the name is still in limbo for now. :O) Not really sure what I will do with it, if I will do anything with it at all. Right now it seems to have taken up housing on top of the antique desk as a display item. Let me know what you think, and try not to be too hard on me since it is the first time I’ve attempted doing something like this. Just joking, let me have all your honest opinions no matter what you have to say. It’ll help out when I do other projects down the line. :O)

Finished Project

Have a wonderful day!!!!!!

Rather pretty. An antique conductor's baton, perhaps? That's what it reminds me of, at any rate...

Very cool & I have to love you making something despite being exactly sure what it is - perfectly creative! Your work on it is beautiful, but that doesn't surprise me. As for what to call it, I'll put my head to it!

I'm sorry I haven't written you back properly yet. I seem to have overextended myself w/ all the FB stuff & I have to find a balance still. However, I received my package yesterday & I'm absolutely thrilled!! I did manage to get out a very excited post about it this morning on my blog if you'd like to take a look. I will write, but for now, thank you so much! <3

Hi Cat!! Thanks. I hadn't thought about a antique conductor's baton. It does kind of make you think about it, now that you had mentioned it. :O) Have a wonderful day!!!

Hi Kim!!
Thanks for the kind words. I still haven't decided what to do next. I have a few things I want to do, but haven't decided how to quite make them yet. Still thinking on it.

No problem. I understand how you can get carried away in things. :O) I seem to do that a lot. So glad that you enjoyed your items. You did a very nice write-up, and it is greatly appreciated. You are so welcome. Have a wonderful day!!!
